The name Sol y Sombra refers to the question you will be asked when buying a ticket for a bullfight: do you want to sit in the sun or the shade? ¿Sol o sombra? This upmarket, taurine-themed nightclub in Madrid is decorated with brave toreros in those sequined suits, in an attempt to appeal to that sector of Spanish society that is interested in the man vs bull battle (which is smaller than you might expect).
In a neighbourhood full of cheap-shot and disco-house bars, Sol y Sombra tries to bring a bit of class, and as such, attracts local celebs and turns away those in trainers. The music can be a bit naff, with plenty of Spanish pop, but live acts feature at the weekends.
